Marcia's studio
Marcia has always created things from found objects in her
surroundings. As a youngster she tried to grow something from every seed she found and to string them into jewelry. She also
constructed boxes from found materials to hold collections of shells, marbles, and other treasures. As a teen she started
making jewelry from unusual beads and found objects. Marcia Loew employs her own unique handmade tiles or unique
papers, along with found objects, to create 2-dimensional contemporary collages and art boxes. The tiles are painted,
tinted, and manipulated to achieve the desired effect for the collage. These art pieces reflect her interest in Mexican
folk art as well as conveying universal positive messages. Her sources of inspiration seem to find a home together in this
very eclectic approach to surface design.
